Summer Term
How does Kenya compare with where I live?
Class Teacher- Miss Walkey
Teaching Assistant- Ms Moses
In Maths we are going to revise the areas we have learnt about so far this year. We will be taking a look at efficient ways to solve maths problems and practising using what we already know to help us.
In English we will continue to practice our phonics sounds daily and will start looking at how we use alternative sounds in spelling. We will start the term with some traditional tales such as 'The Elephant and the Mouse' and then will be writing instructions on 'How to Hide a Lion at School'. After half term, we will be writing a report on our favourite African animals and writing a final story based on 'Don't Spill the Milk'.
This term we are learning about the UK and how it compares with other countries around the world. We will start at looking at the features of Antarctica and what makes it so cold. We will then travel to warmer countries in South America and Africa and compare their climates and landscapes. Finally, we will study Kenya in greater depth, comparing the lives of Kenyans with our lives in the UK. In science, we will be also looking at the animals that live in different habitats and how they survive in different conditions. In DT we will be reading 'Handa's Suprise' to design and make fruit pizzas! After half term, we will look in more depth at African art and artists.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me on Class Dojo and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
PE is on Wednesday. Please wear PE kit to school ready for the afternoon.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and will be collected on a Wednesday.
Thank you
Miss Walkey
