Miss B and Mrs Loze - Class Teachers
Ms Moses - Teaching Assistant
This Term our Topic is...
This term we will learning all about toys. We will be thinking about the different materials that toys are made from and how toys move and work. We will be finding out about the types of toys that our parents and grandparents played with when they were young and exploring how toys have changed over time.
In maths we will be learning about money. We will be looking at the value of coins and notes and building on prior knowledge of addition and subtraction to make different amounts in a shopping context. Counting in 2's, 5's and 10's is an essential underlying skill to being able to work with money. We will also be learning about fractions; finding a half and a quarter of shapes and quantities.
We will continue to work on our phonics with daily sessions of Read Write Inc, within which we will be practising spelling phonetically decodeable words and really becoming adept at identifying digraphs and trigraphs as well as working on our reading aloud and making sure we understand what we are reading.
In English we will be reading the book 'Stuck' by Oliver Jeffers and writing our own story based on the same pattern as 'Stuck'. We will continue to work on punctuating sentences with capital letters and full stops and begin to use exclamation marks. We will be working on using the past and present tense correctly.
P.E will be on a Friday afternoon, so please make sure you have your PE kit in school. With the cold weather approaching, please provide jogging bottoms and a jumper for outdoor PE sessions.
Home learning will be set on a Friday and should be handed in by Wednesday.
All children are encouraged to read at home with an adult, and have their reading logs filled in.
If you have any questions or worries, please do not hesitate to contact us through Class Dojo or our class e-mail account (firstname.lastname@example.org). We are also in the class room before and after school if you wish to talk to us.
