Spring Term 2022 ~

What do I need to be an inventor or explorer?

Miss Beavan  - Class Teacher

 Ms Moses - Teaching Assistant

In Maths we are building on the foundations we built in the Autumn term and really deepening our understanding of number by looking at addition and subtraction within 20. After this we will be extending our knowledge of numbers by looking at the Place value of numbers up to 50.

In English we will continue to practice our Read Write Inc sounds daily. We will start the year with some Poetry based on the poem 'Snow in the Garden' by Shirley Hughes. After, we will be developing our writing skills further with a writing sequence based on the book 'The Train Ride' by June Crebbin. We will then be writing an adventure story based on the book 'The Naughty Bus' by Jan Oke.

For this term's topic we are learning modern day toys and how and why they have changed since the 1960's. We would love for you to share photos of any old toys that you may have from parents and grandparents.

In Science we will be acting like real scientists; developing our scientific enquiry skills by asking questions, performing simple tests as well as observing and recording to help us answer the questions. These will be based around our Science topic of Materials.

In Art we are exploring the work of Margarete Steiff the famous seamstress who made teddies. We will start with observational drawings of bears before designing and making our own teddy bear.

PE is on Wednesday. Please wear PE kit to school ready for the afternoon.

Homework given out on Friday and due back by Wednesday the following week.

If you have any questions or queries please use Class Dojo to contact us. We endeavor to get back to you as soon as possible.

Many thanks,

Miss Beavan
