'One family - caring, sharing, learning together'
On behalf of the children, staff and governors may I welcome you and your family to our school website. Hopefully, our site will provide you with a wealth of information about our school. It also provides information about the varied opportunities we offer pupils and how you, as parents and friends, can become actively involved in the life of the school and its' community.
St Edward’s thrives on the team ethos, where staff, governors and parents work closely to provide the best possible environment for all pupils. At St Edward’s we value every child and encourage them to achieve their full potential. Adults employed, are valued, supported and challenged to be the very best they can be.Our school has a fully embedded set of values which are consistently promoted by all adults and children. Above all, it is our aim to provide a safe, secure and caring environment for all who come here.
We believe parental support is of paramount importance and so we actively encourage parents to take part in their child’s school life. Why not join the PTFA committee, help out on W.A.C. days, trips and on theme days or enjoy other aspects of school life? Check out the school diary of events on the Steady Eddy (ours newsletter) for important dates.
Parents and visitors are always welcome to come to our school or to contact us to share their thoughts, positive feelings and to give us suggestions how we may improve life at St Edward’s.
This website is updated regularly by staff and pupils and there are opportunities on many of the pages for parent feedback. The 'Children' section has photographs and information about daily life at St Edward's.
As of 1st November 2015, St Edward’s is a Voluntary Controlled, Church of England,Primary Academy and a member of the St. Christopher's Primary Multi-Academy Trust, with other Plymouth schools, which include St. Matthew's, St. George's and Old Priory.
The school was founded in 1846 and moved to its present site in 1971. Our school motto (decided by the School Council) 'One Family- caring, sharing, learning together' truly reflects what our school is all about. The family ethos of our school is second to none and this is frequently commented on by parents and visitors to St Edwards. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated staff and outstanding involvement from the local Church team.
Internally the school houses 7 classes and has a large hall and library.
Our most recent inspection by Ofsted was January 2018 and we were judged to be a GOOD school. The report celebrates the many strengths of our school and the progress which children make in our school. Our Ofsted report can be read below and at www.ofsted.gov.uk.
The Diocese of Exeter also carried out their inspection in September 2016 and the school was deemed as 'Good'.
We have a PAN of 30 in Foundation, KS1 & 32 in KS2. We offer one point of entry in September to all new Foundation children. In recent years pupils have transferred to the grammar schools, Notre Dame, St Boniface, Eggbuckland Community College, Torbridge C.C., IvybridgeC.C., LipsonC.C. and Coombe Dean Community College.
Our prospectus gives further details about our school .
In January 2012 Eddy's Pre school was established. The pre-school takes children following their 3rd birthday. Eddys is a private childcare provider and not run by the Local Authority. The transition to school life is outstanding for all children who attend, whether they are moving to St Edwards Church Primary or another primary school.
Please feel free to contact the school for additional information or a look around.
