Admissions
Joining St Edward's
We currently have 202 children on roll.
For all admissions we strongly advise a visit is made to see the school in action. All appointments can be made by contacting the office on 705130 to arrange a mutually convenient time.
The school follows the Coordinated Scheme of Plymouth Local Authority (L.A.).
Children are admitted into the Reception class in the September of the school year (1st September to 31st August) in which they will be five years of age. (Parents retain the right to defer entry for their child until the January of the school year if their child’s birthday falls between the 1st March and the 31st August).
If you are hoping to transfer your child from another school, a visit to the school is strongly advised. The school follows the Local Authority admission criteria, hence all school admissions are dealt with directly by the Local Authority and their contact details are as follows:-
Tel: 307170 Email: www.plymouth.gov.uk/schooladmissions
In July, parents are invited to a meeting to share information and to meet myself as Headteacher, the Classteacher, Chair of Governors, Administration staff, the school cook and representatives from the PTFA. Children are also welcomed into the school for familiarisation visits. We aim for children to be in school full time by the third week in September.
Home visits are made by the class teacher and teaching assistant during the first two weeks in September.
For more information on applying for your child to join our school, please see Plymouth Council’s website.
Note: St Edward's CofE Primary School became an academy school from 1 November 2015 and is now part of the St Christopher's Primary Multi Academy Trust (MAT). This means that wherever the admission policies refer to Plymouth City Council as the admission authority, from 1 November 2015, it will be replaced by the St Christopher's Primary MAT as the admission authority. Also, wherever the policies mention a statement of special education need (SEN), the same provisions will apply to an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and the definition of a child in care now also extends to a child previously in care.
