Homework

We consider work at home with parents to be an essentialHomework part of a child's education. All children are given regular homework and guidelines are provided for parents. We encourage shared reading, learning spellings and tables and working on the Literacy and Numeracy Targets.

Homework Policy Statement

Rationale

  • Learning is for life. Starting early encourages good habits.

Purposes

  • to support and consolidate work done in school particularly in literacy and numeracy.
  • to encourage self-discipline, perseverance and independent learning.
  • to promote the habit of sharing and discussing work at school or with family members.
  • to enable each child to practise organising his/her time to fulfil set tasks as well as enjoying out of school activities.
  • to improve home school liaison, co-operation and understanding by providing opportunities for parents and children to enjoy working together and broaden the educational experiences of every child.
  • to extend each child’s learning environment beyond the school.

Please refer to the following leaflet for a detailed view of the Homework Policy
